Every Cloud Has A Silver Lining
85" x 85"
This quilt was conceived with the thought: "If I make a gray quilt, the fur from my two gray cats won't show!" I used Radiance silk/cotton fabric for it's sheen, and embroidered in matching gray and metallic silver thread. Lots of quilting give this quilt the look of shimmery embossed silver. The wide border, the triangular inserts around the central circle, and the three-dimensional butterflies are free-standing lace. The quilt is cut out from behind the triangular inserts. All embroidery designs from Zundt Designs.
Approximately 47,000 yards of thread and nearly 5,000,000 embroidery stitches were used.
"Every Cloud Has A Silver Lining" was awarded the $5000 Pfaff Master Award for Machine Artistry at the 2010 Houston International Quilt Festival, and 1st place in the Bed Quilts - Home Machine Quilted category at the 2011 AQS Paducah show. I donated the quilt to the National Quilt Museum in Paducah, KY, to commemorate the year of the "Great Rain."
